Souzao Tinta Cao 2018
Hedges Family Estate
Regular price £36.00
Unit price per
This excellent USA Washington State wine comprises grapes from the prestigious Red Mountain AVA terroir. Wines from this region have their own distinct character and the use of neutral aged barrels by winemaker Sarah allows the fruit to express itself beautifully. Collectivino is the first to import this wonderful wine to the UK. Christophe Hedges calls this wine of grapes indigenous to Portugal "a taste of things to come", as the estate experiments with different varietals better suited to the warming climate.
An explosion of mixed berries with quite a bit of raspberry and blackberry is followed up by savory herbs, spice, vanilla and a touch of earth and turmeric. This is a racy wine with a lot of pleasant up-front acid, a chewy mid-palate and a long impactful finish.
This gorgeous gem is remarkably versatile for food pairing. It'll work particularly well with barbecued meats and burgers, grilled vegetables, and sauce-rich beef, lamb, pork, duck, and eggplant or lentil dishes.

We seek out winemakers who are as passionate about the environment as they are about wine quality. They go further to not only minimise impact but improve local biodiversity, and we pay them fairly for their work. These delicious wines won't leave a hangover for the planet.
Paying a small premium unlocks exceptional quality as more of the money goes into the wine vs. the taxes. We aim to bring you oustanding wines for the price you pay, for every ocassion. We don't think you'll be able to find many wines this good at a better price elsewhere.
All our wines come with our Founders' Promise: every bottle in every case is quality assured, sustainably produced, and a wine that we're proud of and enjoy drinking ourselves. If you're not happy, let us know and we'll aim to put things right. Santé! Martin & Toby x
