Guide to icons

A dark red color, shiny and clear. A nose of spice and chocolate. A powerful, delicious attack with notes of red fruits. It is an ample wine, which has volume where tannins are present but melted.

Service: Serve at 18°C and decant one hour before.

Food Pairing: It will pair perfectly with meats in sauce and on all cheeses.

The Vignerons Ardéchois Cave Co-opérative has its roots in the late 1960s when the Presidents of 7 major Cave Co-opératives agreed a unified policy of modernisation, re-planting and marketing. Based in the town of Ruoms, 20 kilometres south of Aubenas this forward-thinking, modernist collective has done much to revive the fortunes of this ancient vine-area, which dates back to Roman times. Today they represents close to 2000 grape growers from 21 different smaller co-operatives.

The vineyard of Montjau flourishes on the rolling pebbles of the Montjau hill or “Jupiter Mountain” located on the heights of Bourg Saint Andéol. It is one of the villages permitted to append its name to Côtes du Rhône on labels. Benefiting from a Mediterranean climate alongside soils full of heat-retaining pudding stones, the steep hillsides around Bourg-Saint-Andéol help capture the sunshine to ripen the fruit that is also cooled by the Mistral winds.

Red | Still | 75cl | 13.5% ABV | Contains Sulphites

Cellaring: Drinking well now, will develop over next 3-5 years.

Vinification: The vineyard is made up of old vines. The grapes are picked at a high maturity voluntarily. A long maceration of 18 days is necessary to harmonize the 4 grape varieties.
